Gmail Backup Software

(May 06, 2009) If you have a Gmail account you will be happy to hear that there is a possibility to have a backup of all your emails there in a folder on the hard disk of your computer in order to be able to read them even when you are offline or when the gmail server is down. The program that makes this possible is called the Gmail Backup program and you can download it free from here. After downloading it install it where you want to and let it retrieve the totality of your emails from the very beginning (to do this make sure you untick the box that says "Newest emails only" and enter the date of the very first email). When all your emails have been downloaded you should put a tick on "Newest emails only" so you don't have to start all over again the next time.
